Introducing: Keenan Kellett

February 20th, 2012 by Keenan

wearetheprocess_keenan_kellett.jpg

What up We Are the Process / EC Design Co. family, the name is Keenan Kellett and I’m here to learn. About what you ask? Well, about your city and what it has to offer to the streetwear game as a whole. Larry Luk and Georgios Saliaris were kind enough to hook me up with the spring internship here in their new studio at Good Work. I’ll be here Monday to Friday till around 5:00 if anyone ever wants to stop by and check anything out. I really love what We Are The Process is doing with their clothing by keeping it real and not losing their Southern roots.

I’m really stoked about staying in The A for awhile. This isn’t the first time I’ve visited Atlanta but it is the first time I’ll be “living” here. I’m coming here from Charleston, SC, where I serve hangry (hungry/angry) overweight tourist BBQ. I’ve been into We Are the Process for about a year now since I heard about it from some friends at Permanent Vacation. I’m looking forward to helping these guys #GrowTheBrand.

While I’m here I’m trying to dine on some of the delicious grub that Atlanta has to offer, which I know hardly anything about, but I’m sure exists. I want to also see some cool art galleries and possibly check out some of the dope music venues. I’m sure there are also some pretty good looking ladies but sadly for them I am very unavailable… Either way I know this is going to be a great experience all around.

Butch Walker & The Black Widows performed their new single, Synthesizers, on the Late Show with David Letterman on Friday night. This performance was special for us at We Are the Process because the band’s guitarist, Chris Unck, was helping us #GrowTheBrand by wearing our Nokahoma Tanktop on national TV! Thanks Chris! Joe Johnson: 6-Time All-Star

February 10th, 2012 by Larry

Congratulations to Joe Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks for being selected to play in the NBA All-Star Game for the 6th time in his career. I’m happy that I live in a city where top-notch basketball is being played night-in and night-out. Since we’re on the topic of the All-Star Game, I have 2 points of contention that are out of Joe’s control, but I need to sound off, so here goes:

#1 - Adidas… whhhhyyyyyy can’t I purchase a Joe Johnson All-Star jersey anywhere? They aren’t available at Philips Arena where the Hawks play, and I can only customize and purchase a crappy polyester replica jersey on NBAstore.com. I would like to own a Swingman quality jersey or even an authentic, but there is no option to get one. This is totally bogus!

#2 - JOSH SMITH should absolutely be on this All-Star team. If Joe makes it, then Josh HAS to make it. He’s been the best player on the Hawks this year! I’m not trying to take away from what Joe does, but without Josh Smith, this team has a sub-.500 record. I feel bad for Josh. He’s been snubbed from the All-Star team his entire career and this is the year that I thought he had the best chance to finally make the roster. I hope this latest snubbing fires him up for the remainder of the season and he proves his worth to all the doubters. Tee up the Orlando Magic… Josh is angry!

We Are the Process (WATP) and the design shop behind the brand known as EC Design Co. (EC/DC) are looking for a Spring intern to join their staff from now until the end of March. But the biggest perk of the position will be an all expenses paid trip to Austin, TX in mid-March for South by Southwest’s Style X event where We Are the Process brand will be showcasing their latest collection.

You will be expected to be in the greater Atlanta area for 90% of this internship. Other supplies you’ll need are:

FKi - Transformers n’ the Hood

February 1st, 2012 by Larry

The long awaited FKi mixtape, Transformers n’ the Hood, has finally dropped and available for free download at livemixtapes.com. Awhile back, we posted a this video/track by FKi, a new project that was being backed by two of my favorite ATL producers, Heroes & Villains and Mayhem.

Check out the video (above) for lead single, On A Roll, Produced by Mayhem, DJ Spinz & FKi. This track has everything I’ve ever wanted the dubstep genre to embrace, including rapping and original lyrics. There’s more to dubstep than the drop! Nothing is more annoying than a track that repeats the same word or phrase for 10 minutes straight. On A Roll is the perfect blend of lyrical irreverence and wobble that the kids love.

Download the entire mixtape here. Damn, this thing kills!

We Are the Process & EC Design Co. at Good Work

January 31st, 2012 by Larry

watp_ecdc_studio_04.JPG

Last weekend, we relocated our design studio back into the heart of Atlanta. We’re now at the cross streets of Ponce de Leon Place & Pylant in a progressive lofted office building known as Good Work. We couldn’t be happier with our new location. The new space will serve as a place for us to conduct our day-to-day branding projects for our clients as EC Design Co., and as a “factory store” for our brand, We Are the Process. Holler at us via Twitter at @WeAreTheProcess if you’re interested in visiting. If you’re in town, you can save on shipping fees by picking up gear in person.

We spent a few days transforming our new digs into a place that felt more like home. There are still some things to be done, but here are some photos documenting the process: Read the rest of this entry »

Grant Taylor - Thrasher Magazine’s SOTY

December 1st, 2011 by Larry

I remember seeing Grant Taylor just shredding his Shanghai Dunk SBs in Little Five Points and thinking to myself, “This KID is crazy! Why would you abuse those gems?!?” Then I started seeing him go harder than anyone else in skate videos and I proclaimed to everyone within earshot that he was the best skater out there. Maybe my passion was fueled more by seeing a member of the Dirty South kicking ass on a national stage?

Fast-forward a few years… Now it seems like the Thrasher Magazine bros share the same sentiment as me. Congrats Grant on winning Skater of the Year! ATL stand up!

Note: Peep all the ATL spots in this video… I see Murder Kroger!!!
